Around the Neighborhood: Cadillac House

The beautiful and well-appointed Soho apartments for sale at 70 Charlton offer refined interiors in a building featuring a classic facade — a blend of old and new that creates a timeless elegance in the heart of Manhattan. Less than a block away, residents will find a kindred sense of elegance at Cadillac House, the experiential brand center from the auto manufacturer that is reinventing the pop-up shop as a luxury art and retail hub. Keep reading for a look behind the scenes at Cadillac House:

Designed for the Future
Cadillac House was designed by international architecture firm Gensler, which is known for creating visionary offices, airport terminals, and towers around the world. When tasked with envisioning Cadillac House, the architects centered the space around a runway where the latest car models could be displayed. Just as important are the building’s performance space, art gallery, and café and lounge with coffee by New York staple Joe Coffee. Cadillac House, which served as the company’s headquarters until late last year, was always meant to be more than an office space, and the building has hosted dozens of art installations and performances in the years since its construction.

 A Venue for All Occasions
Since opening in 2016, Cadillac House has been the location for everything from award shows to art installations to fashion shows. The Native Son Awards, which highlight the work of gay black men in all industries, made Cadillac House the venue for their annual award dinner last year. Cadillac partner Visionaire recently uploaded a video of visual artist Oscar Oiwa painting the walls of their gallery space at Cadillac House as part of his upcoming exhibition BLACK and LIGHT. If you’re interested in this exhibit, consider tuning into the livestream that the artist is hosting as he creates the work. The exhibit will open to the public on March 11. Cadillac House was also home to several events as part of New York Fashion Week this year, and designers made use of every available inch of the building, as can be seen in this video from behind the scenes that reveals racks of clothes and models crowding the gallery space.
